The program shows ways to handle security and safety issues in the library. Among the issues covered are potentially violent patrons, bomb threats, sexual harassment, and inappropriate Internet browsing.
Several legal and security professionals helped create the content of the videotape, including Lt. Colonel Russell Shea of the Maryland Transportation Authority Police, Kathleen Batton of the Baltimore County Police Department and attorney Timmerman Daugherty.
Suggestions and guidelines for handling sexual harassment, bomb threats, and suspicious packages are also offered in the videotape. In addition, Solving Difficult Situations discusses how Harford County Public Library (MD) successfully coped with a patron who continually used their Internet stations to access images and sites that violated their Internet use policy.
